The Persuasions are taking requests!

Did you hear about The Persuasions? The benchmark for a capella ensembles will come to visit the streets of our beautiful city in October. We are really excited about hearing their voices at POP. Check out this movie to have a taste of what's coming:

At this moment, you can send your song requests here, and buy tickets for the show there. Keep in mind that the weird demands that you may want to send in as jokes will still be considered as possibilities. The Persuasions have already made an album only with Zappa covers. Take a chance with your favorite King Crimson or Radiohead song, you never know what could happen.

This unmissable event will take place on October 4 in the magnificent Ukrainian Federation!!!

Ratatat and Nick Cave are sold out! Can I still get in?

RatatatRatatat

Yes, you can. Pop followers have been quick to find out about the ticket links on the "Events" section of the website. They are going fast! Don't panic, you can still get in those two shows without giving your money to those evil men known as ticket scalpers. Buying an Industry Pass will let you join your friends into the party!

Who's the Ben Stiller of Canadian indie-rock songwriters!?!?!?! by Dan Burke

That question occured to me this morning while riding the subway to work during rush hour. I was reading the National Post and on the front page of the entertainment section I saw the headline: "Is He The Next Ben Stiller?"
Before I could mumble, "Who FUCKING cares!?!?!?!?" Some middle-weight, middle-aged, middle-class mid-town Torontonian muddler said something like:
"Oh, my! Ben Stiller! Isn't that an amusing co-incidence!"

Sister Nancy & Mossman Soundsystem

15$/20$. Tickets @ Atom Heart Records, Cheap Thrills, etix, L'Oblique, Phonopolis .

(APM)

Sister Nancy’s vintage reggae roots situate her in a time when the genre was literally being invented; a time when it was fully becoming it’s own. Listening to her music today confirms her longevity and relevance to reggae. (MC)

Baby Dee + Krista Muir + Colin Stetson

Oct 1, 20:00 @ Ukrainian Federation.
15$. Tickets @ Atom Heart Records, Cheap Thrills, L'Oblique, Phonopolis , Ticketpro.ca.

Merci!

Baby Dee is back after playing Body and Soul 5 at Voix d'Amériques to a mesmerized crowd. She worked with Anthony and the Johnsons and with Mark Almond and has toured the world many times. Come see her play her folky ballads at the cozy and warm Ukrainian Federation!
